Candidate Statement

Tansi, Dezmar Campbell Nseeikason.

I know a lot of Kelly Lake community members may know me personally, but I will give a little history of my connection to Kelly Lake to those who may not.

I was raised in Kelly Lake by my parents Lective and Caroline Campbell.   My grandparents were Sidore and Annie Gladue. I have a vast extensive family and have many familial ties to the community. I was raised to have a good work ethic, to be honest, have integrity and to treat others how I would like to be treated. I have always strived to live my life in the way that I was taught by my elders. I am proud of my heritage and try to maintain my cultural traditions, language and connection to Creator.

The main reason that I am running for governance is to assist my community to become a thriving independent community with dependable housing and economic opportunities for all. I am a strong ally and advocate, especially in matters that I care deeply about.

Due to work shortages many people, including myself, had to leave the community and move elsewhere to sustain their families and to maintain a living. I would love for all Kelly Lake members and their families to have the option of moving back home. Just like many of you, Kelly Lake is my home and where my heart is.

I wish to see Kelly Lake become a legit and legal entity that is recognized by the federal and provincial governments as well as the surrounding municipalities. I wish to see Kelly Lake speak for themselves when it comes to taking care of our community. I want Kelly Lake to have a voice and decision-making power when it comes to corporations, industries, and construction companies working in our back yard.

I promise the members of Kelly Lake that I will do my utmost best in leading this community to prosperous beginnings and I will lead with honesty, integrity, and fairness for all members. I feel that I have gained the experience and expertise in my life's work to be able to help our community in gaining and executing goals for the betterment of our community.

I have currently been working with KLFN for 6 plus years, helping to develop goals for housing, economic opportunities and governance in Kelly Lake. Other areas addressed have been basic needs, road maintenance, elder supports, clean up of the community, housing needs, training, cultural workshops/annual camp, and community gathering and meetings. Bringing community together and creating a fair platform for discussion and decision making is important for our community to move forward in a positive and healthy way. All of the members voices are important.

If elected, I would be honoured to represent Kelly Lake as one of the members in leadership. I hope to be successful in securing a position in this election, and am dedicated to addressing the needs of the community and working hand in hand with the other successful candidates for the betterment of our community.

Respectfully,
Dezmar Campbell
